A Radical Imagination of care featuring A.J.Haynes - A birthrite exhibition
Step into a powerful celebration of creativity, care, and cultural storytelling at the 2026 Birthrite Exhibition. Hosted by the Ashé Cultural Arts Center, this dynamic showcase invites visitors to explore the intersections of imagination, identity, and radical care through compelling visual and experiential works.
A.J. Haynes (she/they) is a Black and Filipina queer artist, educator, reproductive justice practitioner, and multidisciplinary creative. As the lead vocalist of the acclaimed genre-defying soul band Seratones, she has earned recognition on both national and international stages. Her work weaves together music, performance, storytelling, and embodied practice, grounded in the belief that art can serve as a form of collective care and liberation. Through songwriting and performance, A.J. explores themes of autonomy, connection, pleasure, and ancestral strength, honoring the body as a powerful site of memory, resistance, and transformation.
