We’re bringing the magic back this spring!

Join Ashé and Color Of Change on Saturday, April 8, 2023 from 11:30am - 2pm for Black Mama Magic: A Celebration & Community Baby Shower where we will pack care packages for expectant mothers in our community ahead of Black Maternal Health Week 2023.

April is Maternal Health month and with negative Black maternal outcomes on the rise across the country, we are asking the community to join us as we create a space to uplift, celebrate and shower Black Mamma’s and their magic together.

We’ll have good food, storytelling, and artistic performances about what it means to be there for our community. Inflation, the coronavirus and inadequate healthcare have added to the systemic racism that has created disparities in our communities for decades and continue to rise. Your participation and/or donation of diapers for the community baby shower will make a world of difference for expectant mothers in our communities.

The Black Mama Magic Community shower is an ongoing commitment to center Black women and families, uplift our stories and celebrate our unique value in order to move our communities forward. All care packages prepared will be donated to partner organizations in the Greater New Orleans area.

Join us at 1712 Oretha Castle Haley Blvd. as we celebrate and take action with your family and friends. You will experience the joy of bonding that is rooted in our most trusted circles while engaging in guided discussions that affirm our worldview. Bring diapers if you can!
